Artificial Intelligence - we talked about it with Judith Dijkstra, senior researcher at TNO, about what AI is and the future of AI. Today we focus on deep learning and specifically Chat GPT. Deep learning in Dutch translated sounds a bit strange, tries to mimic the human brain, with the goal that systems can cluster data and make predictions with incredible accuracy. According to our guest today, Remy Gieling, deep learning is on the verge of a breakthrough that all businesses can use.
Remy Gieling is a presenter with expertise. He is former editor-in-chief of MT/Sprout and as founder of ai.nl he knows how to translate the most important technology trends understandably into the impact for jobs and businesses.
Where do we stand with AI
To look to the future, Remy briefly looks back at the past. After all, AI is not new at all. The term was coined back in 1956. "We had a first chatbot in 1966 and we already had self-driving buses in 1984. Today, you can't open a newspaper or you'll read something about artificial intelligence or algorithms. That has to do with applying AI. Here you need three ingredients. Very smart people, but what we didn't have is a lot of computing power and data and today we do have that. Those three elements that you need to make AI really work for you are now all freely available to everyone." Remy says enthusiastically.
Wake up
Remy finds AI fascinating. A lot of things are happening that companies, entrepreneurs, managers and executives can do something with. According to Remy, the fire may well be fanned in the Netherlands. Especially outside the country AI is alive and well. "In the Netherlands we mainly talk about the limitations and dangers. We miss the inspiration of what you can do with it. I see it as my mission to fan the flames," says the AI expert.
