Giving and receiving feedback, something that is not always easy. Three times already something has happened that you wanted to say something about, but then you didn't do it. What makes you do it the fourth time?
Today's guest and not for the first time, Gytha Heins! Previously, Gytha Heins recorded the podcast 'never again feedback training' with Wendy van Ierschot. In addition, Gytha Heins has published the bestseller 'Addressing? Just do it!
Feedback and addressing
Gytha has spent three years researching approach behavior. She is a booster of good conversations and can bring up issues and make them negotiable. People often have negative feelings when they are addressed or receive feedback. Gytha distinguishes between feedback and addressing. Feedback is about 'you are sitting next to me eating an apple and I find that annoying and I say something about it. Addressing is about triggering intrinsic values and doing something with them'.
Blind spot
According to Gytha, Young Professionals have gold in their hands. Only they don't realize it. "After all, you are just starting out, you are still fresh, you are not yet tainted by what kind of corporate culture. You can see very sharply what's going on. Things are happening that aren't on the books. When you're just starting out, it's so valuable to name things, because your colleagues don't see that anymore.
In the new episode of the Work Professor, Gytha gives tips you can get started right away! Curious?
