Ongoing commitment to diversity and inclusion in the workplace, not just a logo once a year.

Pride week

Last summer we experienced several Pride weeks again, meanwhile the trendy rainbow logos have disappeared and given way to standard corporate logos. Too often we still see a complete lack of commitment to diversity and inclusion in the workplace. So herewith a big reminder to all of you: now is the time for you to earn your rainbows for next year!

Of course, we can't seem super inclusive for a few weeks and then go back to the still-long-not-inclusive-enough standard for the rest of the year. While this is still often the reality, here are tips on how to make sure you're not rainbowwashing next year.

Want to know more about rainbowwashing? Then read this blog!

  1. Diversity (and inclusion) within leadership

Make sure there is diversity within your company's leadership. A diverse leadership team can provide different perspectives when making decisions and shaping company culture. That's exactly what you need for even more diversity and inclusiveness in the workplace.

  1. Supporting LGTBQIA+ organizations

Collaborate and donate to LGTBQIA+ organizations, not just during Pride Month (Learn more about Pride Month here ). Show your commitment by actively participating in events and activities aimed at supporting the community. For example, did you support your employees last year to speak up during this counter-demonstration in Rotterdam?

  1. Training programs for awareness

Change always starts with awareness, so organize workshops and trainings on diversity and inclusion. Contribute to reducing prejudice, creating a finer work culture as well as promoting inclusiveness. Don't know where to start? No problem! Good that you're already thinking about this. A first step is to talk to your employees and really listen. If you find this difficult or don't know what you can do, let us know. Starting a conversation and going through the discomfort is more important than knowing all the answers.

  1. Transparency and accountability

Perhaps the most important tip: Be transparent about your diversity and inclusiveness efforts. Let your employees know what actions you are taking, publish the progress you are making and be prepared to be accountable for any shortcomings.

Diversity and inclusion in the workplace

Diversity and inclusion is more than posting a rainbow logo 1 month a year because it aligns so well with your marketing strategy. Want to post one next year and pay attention to it then? Then make sure you can underscore it with your behaviors and actions throughout the year. It's not about doing it perfectly right away, taking the right steps is a great start!
