Jan de Vuijst is a management consultant, certified executive coach, and Professor of Leadership at Tilburg University. He wrote, in collaboration with Drs. Donatus Thöne and Drs. Stance Rijpma a special book in which text is as important as images. The book, Leadership in Pictures, is aimed primarily at beginning leaders, but just as interesting for anyone else.
Something different for once
The book is about leadership. I can already hear you thinking, there's another one of those books. But nothing could be further from the truth! This book is special because of the many illustrations by Eric J. Coolen. Together with the written texts, this book is an inspiration for beginning leaders.
"At first I had to get used to it, that I thought hey what is the structure of the book and how do I navigate through this. But you have chosen a very clear format".
The book is written as a story. In the book, you encounter all kinds of things. From resistance to success. In addition, all the examples given come straight from real life.
"Then how can that be?"
In addition to the leadership programs Jan and his colleagues are in, they help people who are taking the next step in their careers. Taking a new step comes with new challenges. Every time they have to learn it all over again and every time they ask "how do they do it?"
The latter is at the heart of Jan's book. "Don't get distracted by models, templates and templates. These are all important, you should keep them in mind and refer to them if necessary, but the important thing is that you can be completely yourself when leading."
