Sven Kramer, Johann Sebastian Bach they all have talents of their own. That already sounds passe to me, I will no longer be a top skater and certainly not a musical talent. Still, I too have a lot of talent that has not been discovered AND there are many people who will change jobs and work content in the fast technological changing world. What talent have you yet to tap into that can help you take the next step? Today we have Dr. Marian Thunnissen as our guest. She is lector Dynamic Talent Interventions and leading lector of the Fontys Knowledge Center Lifelong Development. So expert on talent discovery and development.

Marian Thunnissen is lector Dynamic Talent Interventions and leading lector of the Fontys Knowledge Center Lifelong Development. Ever since she graduated, practice-based research on the employability of people in organizations has been the common thread in Marian's career. "I like to build bridges. Between science and practice, between education and the field and between researchers themselves."

Unique features

Sven Kramer and Johann Sebastian Bach, the toppers in sports and music. According to Marian Thunnissen, that reflects how we looked at languages in the past. Something was unique. In fact, there were only a limited number of people who had that talent. Over time, though, that has shifted to an inclusive approach. With the idea that actually everyone has talents and strengths.

Marian indicates that many people have yet to discover a lot of talents in themselves. A shame, because these talents can be used again in the job market. "We see talent as a unique characteristic, a strong point of a person. The added value of utilizing and discovering talent is that it gives satisfaction and pleasure in your work. As a result, we perform better."
