Non-verbal profiling, what is it and where does it come from? And perhaps even more interesting, how do I recognise certain behaviours? Expert An Gaiser knows all about it.
Who is An Gaiser? An Gaiser worked at the probation service and the AIVD, she shares her expertise with the court, gives trainings on interpreting facial expressions and assessing risks of behaviour.
Observing facial expressions
How often do you stop and think about your facial expression? Not often, right? According to An Gaiser, you reveal more than you might want to.
"You show through your facial expressions motives and drives, but also your interaction needs. So by looking at the face and actually measuring the facial expressions, you find out more about the behaviour and you can make it predictable". Based on this, you can ask different questions or respond differently.
Recognising non-verbal behaviour
How do you recognise the different traits people have? An Gaiser has her own ideas about this. As an example, she mentions a job application process. Instead of doing an assessment, have people make a video about themselves. These tips, among others, are discussed in the new episode of the Work Professor.
