We have already made a number of podcasts about the digital transformation and yet there is one aspect that we have not yet discussed. Leading those specialists who make the digital transformation possible. Today in the Work Professor we are talking with Dr Eric Kuisch about leading that group, the engineers, developers and ICT specialists.

Eric Kuisch holds a PhD in mathematics, has a passion for technology and innovation by birth. He has worked as CTO for Vodafone and is currently COO at Eurofiber. He knows better than anyone how to get the best out of your team of brilliant experts and how to build a bridge between them and other departments. He wrote the book "Birds of Paradise. Successfully leading engineers, developers and ICT specialists".

Today's successful company
"Common management literature is often based on a financial-economic view of the company and usually deals with optimizing the performance of the entire organization, a corporate approach" Eric says. In "Birds of Paradise," he explains why leading tech experts is a profession in its own right. Their knowledge often exceeds that of the manager himself and they have their own unique perspective on corporate targets or project goals. As a manager, how do you ensure that these talented people don't end up on an island? What can you do so that they are heard enough and enjoy making a significant contribution to business success? Eric explains.

Growing as a Leader
Team leaders can learn from the technically brilliant people who don't always fit into the corporate culture but make a difference because of their subject matter expertise. From all his experience, Eric Kuisch distilled seven leadership lessons that every leader in a knowledge-based company should take to heart in order to make the most of the valuable talent of their experts. Listen now and find out how you can learn from them!
