Just spent half a year working on the new company website, finally succeeded! But still only fewer visitors and leads are not coming. What to do now? That's what we're discussing today in the Work Professor with Cognitive Psychologist Joris Groen.
Together with Bas Wouters, Joris Groen wrote the book 'Online influence: how to apply proven behavioral psychology for better online results'. His main tip: stop focusing on the message you want to convey, but start looking at the behavior you want to entice someone into. "Look for the smallest possible step you want your website visitor to take, then build the website in such a way that the visitor is actually going to do this" said Joris.
How do you get someone to do what you want?
To really get a visitor to do what you want, you can use the Fogg Behavior Model. That model works using three factors: prompt (request for action), motivation (the will to take action) and ability (the ease of being able to take action). "That's all there is to it," concludes Joris Groen. Listen to the entire episode of the Work Professor to get the useful tips and application of behavioral psychology from the book "Online Influence.
