Achieving goals without inspiration? According to today's guest, Hans Wopereis, that is not the essence of what makes an organisation successful. Why is inspiration so important? And how do you organise it?

Hans Wopereis was co-director of the ITIP School for Life and Work and became known for "The Light and the Cornrow. He has over thirty years of experience in culture change projects and leadership training. In addition, in collaboration with his former team at ITIP, he wrote the book 'Bezieling werkt', about the eight sources of growth and development in the organization.

Passion

The main message from the book is to look for inspiration in an organization. But what exactly is meant by "inspiration"? According to Hans, it is that which drives you, motivates you, makes you feel that what you are doing makes sense and prompts you to make a difference.

"Not just coming because you have to, but what makes your life useful. That you think cool that I get to do this and even though it takes effort, you are grateful with what you do because it really matters to you."

As an organization, you can come up with the most beautiful structures, systems and visions. But without people who are truly motivated, it doesn't work.

The eight sources

The book discusses the following eight resources: inspiration, trust, circle awareness, leadership, self-examination, responsibility, truthfulness and compassion.

By sources, Hans also means values. "Values are what you can hold yourself accountable for in an organization, what you can hold others accountable for. In our team, at ITIP, we asked ourselves out loud 'what is it really that makes us say to ourselves why is it so nice to work here? What is our secret really?' Then we came up with these values.
