Stop teaching, start teasing. Because be honest... who deserves more? Your old-time German teacher or Beyonce? After the success of his previous bestseller, speaker, author and copywriter Aartjan van Erkel has launched a new book. Number 1 - How to become the best known name in your market and get clients for life.
Today in the Work Professor, we look at how to become #1 with Aartjan. Aartjan van Erkel is one of the best-selling business authors in the Netherlands. He teaches entrepreneurs how to get better at copywriting so they bring in more customers via the Internet.
Are you also more fun than your own marketing?
''What entrepreneurs often have is that they are more fun than their own marketing,'' Aartjan explains in the podcast what he means by this text from his book. Tip of the hat: the trick is to make marketing at least as fun as the entrepreneur. Marketing on paper is often quite formal, but it can be done differently. According to Aartjan, you have to ''Stop teaching, start teasing.'' Nowadays everyone is addicted to entertainment and you have to capitalize on that. You have to find a mix between entertainment and sharing information. Entertainment is more than just making people laugh, entertainment is evoking an emotion in people.
Try to get customers to say no
Marketing is mostly about getting customers to say yes. Aartjan argues precisely that he wants to make customers say no as quickly as possible. By chasing away customers who do not suit your business as quickly as possible, you ensure that you only retain customers who are actually useful to you. You just have to have the courage to do this, because you will get a backlash.
