Leon Schaepkens studied economics at the HEAO and then chose to study public administration, law & psychology at university. He is an expert in the field of organizational change, leadership coaching, team development, assessment, governance & politics, HRM, labor & health. He also founded his own company; Schaepkens BV, with which he advises and guides organizations, teams and managers.
Learning from history
Leon in his book calls it "the Savannah brain"; the product of millions of years of living as a hunter-gatherer. Programmed to survive in groups and constantly looking for fulfillment of our basic needs. Where today's management books mainly give practical tips, Leon believes it is important to dig deeper into the brain to encourage people to change. Leon explains.
The basic principles of leadership
"Every brain has the following six basic needs: safety, connection, appreciation, autonomy, self-expression and learning to manage boundaries." Successful leaders meet all of these basic needs.
