"So many things went wrong and the competition was so good, but why did we end up being so successful despite those mistakes?" That is what Remco Boer, today's guest, asked himself.

Remco Boer is a former director of Mollie. Mollie is a payment service provider and is valued at 5.4 billion. Remco Boer wrote the book "Via Mollie" in which he shares his doubts and pains. The book has three parts: "The dna, the growing pains and the exit." In this episode of the work professor, we test the scientific success factors of growth, on the reality of Mollie.

Why this book

One of the main reasons for publishing this book by Remco Boer is that Remco ran into problems while starting his business.

He saw that his business was going through a growth spurt which brought the necessary hiccups. When he was at a get-together and asked others how their businesses were doing, it was always great. And that, according to Remco Boer, is not so. "The reality is really much more difficult. It's really big chaos and you can do a lot of things right, but there are also a lot of things that go wrong and I wanted to share that."

Growth

Mollie's growth was going incredibly well. Even without putting too much time and energy into sales and marketing, the customers were pouring in. "But a lot of things also go wrong at some point, because suddenly you start growing. Everything becomes more. Your processes start to falter, because something that worked for 10 customers may not work for 100 customers."
