How to make decisions with data

Making decisions, we often do it on our (gut) feelings. We really know that it's good to include more data in our decisions, but that also costs energy. This podcast is a series of three podcasts on Data science with professors from Maastricht University and the Brightlands institute for smart society (BISS). Last week we spoke with Rudolf Müller. Today Lisa Brüggen is our guest and we talk about decision making based on data.

Lisa is a busy bee. Like Rudolf, she is involved in the BISS. She is also a Professor of marketing and supply chain management at school of business and economics, sits on the Supervisory Board of NIBUD, also conducts research and has a lot of contact with behavioral economists and psychologists. She is an internationally recognized expert on service marketing and financial decision making and believes in the role of digitalization and data science in our lives.

The Role of Data Science

"Data science helps you make a more informed and factual decision" explains Lisa. With data, you learn to check whether your goal has the desired effect. But how do you ensure this as an organization? According to Lisa, this is pretty easy to apply everywhere, "the quality of data is super important," says Lisa.

Organizations and data

What can you use data science for as an entrepreneur? How do you move toward data-based decision making? and how do organizations work with data? How do you do that in the scientifically right way? collaboration and creativity are two important concepts here. How you can use and apply these two concepts can be heard in the podcast.
